The Nursery ~ Where New Plants Start Their Journey With Us

Part of the fun of hydropodics is being able to grown unusual flowers and plants from seed, or replant our own crops season after season. It also makes events like the annual seed exchange at the Library really fun.

We set up a six foot long flood tray to automatically water our seeds 3 times a day. The tray is gently flooded with aerated, pH and nutrient balanced filtered water from its own 30 gallon reservoir. After about 15 minutes the water drains out. (Click below to see this action video.)

Having the watering taken care of automatically like this with very little manual intervention makes it much easier to work with seedlings. The seeds are held in a rockwool cube without any dirt. 3D printed nametag brackets identify each seedling.
